“All are equal, but some are more equal than others” - Orwell
This collection of seal rings aims to inspire contemplation, dialogue, and a reevaluation of our understanding of equality in a world where, indeed, all are equal, but the perception of their value may differ. All rings are made from different materials, but message the same idea. However they are all the same price, some are more desirable. It invites you to explore the nuances of equality, desirability, and the intrinsic worth of diverse materials — questions often asked in contemporary jewellery design.
The pig nose in the seal is an ironic reference that also challenges the intrinsic value of the jewelry archetype ‘seal ring’ and its wearer, who can use the seal as a statement.
The seal ring can both be used as a tool or an insult to the wearer.
My work was selected and showcased on “Antwerp Art” for the socio-political exhibition “Not Into Decoration”, curated by Ann Laenen and Stefan Kolgen.
